I drove for about an hour through traffic this morning trying to make my way through the normal Lagos hustle. As I drove side by side other cars, I could see the level of discomfort with which my fellow citizens did the routine. Along the paves were pedestrians do the motions tensely taking strides in an evident state of fear. I sat in my white metal machine, despite my windows being wound up and my doors locked, I still didn't feel safe. Am I paranoid? well that's a regular trait a Nigerian exhibits. We have been subjected to the "whatever you get you take" life for so long. Its so bad that when one person does his job, we celebrate him for ever. The governor builds roads and erects a few street lights and we dance like puppets....... what's his job?
I see smiles on faces everyday but I don't need you to tell me they are not original. We are a special people who have exhibited long suffering..... I'm tired of this, I would like some long enjoyment and long comfort.
The elections are here again, please vote right. Don't sell your self cheap to some people who'll throw a cheap t-shirt at you and tell you "by the grace of God" . I hear that every Sunday, and probably twice during the week. Go all out and listen to their campaigns and from their speeches you will know what these people have to offer.
We Nigerians are an emotional people, little wonder why our first love is religion. This has been used against us for too long, wake up people and let your votes count. If you didn't register, you already voted - too bad!..... For those of us that registered, its time to make our votes count.
If you have been promised money by some individuals all so that you may vote for them, well its your loss. Lets assume you get a hundred thousand naira (N100,000), that's sixty eight naira fifty kobo(N68.50k) a day for the next four years....... Is that what you are worth? I'll let you answer that question with your vote.
Lets make a move in the right direction people. God bless Nigeria and God bless you too.
Have a great week.
Nigerian Politicians have a mentor - Mubarak!
