Have you ever been in love?........ Ooops! Dumb question. Lol. This morning I was just thinking about love and all of its beautiful attributes and of course its downsides too. My mind panned around recollecting different love stories I had seen or heard at different intervals both real and fiction and I couldn't help but smile.
I remembered a few stories where either parties were so in love they saw each other as angels and all of a sudden they cant see eye to eye...... What happened here? We usually ascribe to our loved ones attributes they don't have just because we are in love and blind. This is very common in new cuts (first and second time lovers) but not limited to them. You know that feeling you get that just makes your brain docile and your heart and feelings take the wheel. Its not a bad thing but if you intend for the excitement to last for long, you should endeavor to be real to yourself and see things as they are. Sometimes we fall in love with the most arrogant people and everybody but you says he/she is a jerk, the right thing is to consider what is being said, I'm not saying you should condemn your lover but it will pay to note their downside should you have to get a taste of it. Its sometimes painful but the heart loves who it loves.
With this being said, open your eyes as well as your heart when falling in love.

But I have a Friend
To do most things in life, we only need a friend to nudge us the right/wrong direction. An age old adage drilled into most of us says "show me your friend and I'll tell you who you are". This saying can not be faulted but it is not true in all cases (in my opinion that is).
What may be true abut friends is the ability to give us that convincing wink to go ahead and do that thing we've been considering to do. The book of proverbs chronicles in one of its chapters,-"he that walketh with wise men shall be wise but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. What baffles me in this quote is the fact that only the companion of the fools will be destroyed and not the fools themselves. On the contrary the fellow that walks with wise men shall be equally wise.
Quick question! Have you increased in wisdom by associating with your "friends" or has destruction befallen you in any manner as a result of your association? Hmmmmmm!
You might want to pull out a sheet of paper and draw up a list of the 5 most influential individuals in your life and before each name write out the effects they have in your life in plain english. This exercise will help you see clearly why you are where you are today. If you find out that you can not seem to write anything in front of a particular name, well then their impact in your life is glaring. I do not need to tell you what to do if the answer swings either to the negative or positive.
I just might do the same exercise myself. Lol.
Yours Truely,
Oluwatoyin David-Ajayi.

Thumb Print or Not , You Voted!
I drove for about an hour through traffic this morning trying to make my way through the normal Lagos hustle. As I drove side by side other cars, I could see the level of discomfort with which my fellow citizens did the routine. Along the paves were pedestrians do the motions tensely taking strides in an evident state of fear. I sat in my white metal machine, despite my windows being wound up and my doors locked, I still didn't feel safe. Am I paranoid? well that's a regular trait a Nigerian exhibits. We have been subjected to the "whatever you get you take" life for so long. Its so bad that when one person does his job, we celebrate him for ever. The governor builds roads and erects a few street lights and we dance like puppets....... what's his job?
I see smiles on faces everyday but I don't need you to tell me they are not original. We are a special people who have exhibited long suffering..... I'm tired of this, I would like some long enjoyment and long comfort.
The elections are here again, please vote right. Don't sell your self cheap to some people who'll throw a cheap t-shirt at you and tell you "by the grace of God" . I hear that every Sunday, and probably twice during the week. Go all out and listen to their campaigns and from their speeches you will know what these people have to offer.
We Nigerians are an emotional people, little wonder why our first love is religion. This has been used against us for too long, wake up people and let your votes count. If you didn't register, you already voted - too bad!..... For those of us that registered, its time to make our votes count.
If you have been promised money by some individuals all so that you may vote for them, well its your loss. Lets assume you get a hundred thousand naira (N100,000), that's sixty eight naira fifty kobo(N68.50k) a day for the next four years....... Is that what you are worth? I'll let you answer that question with your vote.
Lets make a move in the right direction people. God bless Nigeria and God bless you too.
Have a great week.

Buddies
So I woke up this morning with a smile on my face, not because its Friday neither is it because the month is almost over. I am smiling because I'm surrounded by wonderful people I call my buddies. In the few years I've spent here on earth, I've found that happiness is not guaranteed by money, a luxury car or fame.....its comes in through the little chit chats here and there with people who'll sit and relate with you irrespective of what couture you have on your back, the zero cologne you are wearing or the knock off slippers you have on.
Mid last year, I had a very bad experience of deceit and cheating. I was let down by a brother I looked up to so much, I almost worshiped him because he just always knew how I felt and he would proffer timely advices. I was shocked when I found out how much he had eaten into my life, it was so bad I had to break connections with relationships I had been building for close to a decade because of his singular less than noble act. I was able to pull through because my buddies stood by me.
I'm celebrating you all today. I cherish the times we have spent together and I look forward to better times in the future.
Cheers :)
P.S
Always let your buddies know they are special..........
