To do most things in life, we only need a friend to nudge us the right/wrong direction. An age old adage drilled into most of us says "show me your friend and I'll tell you who you are". This saying can not be faulted but it is not true in all cases (in my opinion that is).
What may be true abut friends is the ability to give us that convincing wink to go ahead and do that thing we've been considering to do. The book of proverbs chronicles in one of its chapters,-"he that walketh with wise men shall be wise but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. What baffles me in this quote is the fact that only the companion of the fools will be destroyed and not the fools themselves. On the contrary the fellow that walks with wise men shall be equally wise.
Quick question! Have you increased in wisdom by associating with your "friends" or has destruction befallen you in any manner as a result of your association? Hmmmmmm!
You might want to pull out a sheet of paper and draw up a list of the 5 most influential individuals in your life and before each name write out the effects they have in your life in plain english. This exercise will help you see clearly why you are where you are today. If you find out that you can not seem to write anything in front of a particular name, well then their impact in your life is glaring. I do not need to tell you what to do if the answer swings either to the negative or positive.
I just might do the same exercise myself. Lol.
